Metro Gas

Metro Gas delivers LPG cylinders direct to homes and businesses across the Auckland and Hamilton regions. Originally designed and built by SeventyTwo in 2013, the website had served customers reliably for over a decade, supporting online ordering alongside a postcode-based delivery schedule unique to Metro Gas.

Our recent redesign modernised the experience for both customers and administrators – streamlining online ordering, improving clarity around delivery schedules, and enhancing the backend tools used to manage customer approvals, orders, and deliveries. The result is a future-ready platform that supports Metro Gas’s growing customer base while improving internal efficiency.

The Mission

Metro Gas needed more than a visual refresh. Their goal was to evolve a decade-old platform into a modern, scalable ordering and operations system — improving the customer experience, reducing manual internal processes, and introducing tools to better support scheduling, delivery, and future growth. Our mission was to design and build a platform that could confidently support the business for the next 10+ years.

The Outcome

Using the latest SeventyTwo CMS, we delivered a complete redesign of the Metro Gas website and administration interface. The new customer portal streamlines onboarding, ordering, and reordering, with address validation, improved checkout flows, and support for recurring billing. Internally, the upgraded CMS introduced powerful reporting, postcode and delivery management, manual order handling, refunds, and dynamic run sheets — all designed to remove friction and manual work from daily operations.

The Impact

Customers now enjoy a faster, clearer, and more intuitive ordering experience, while the Metro Gas team benefits from significantly improved operational efficiency. Delivery schedules are easier to manage, reporting is automated, and manual, paper-based processes have been reduced or removed entirely — creating a platform that scales with the business and supports future enhancements such as driver delivery confirmation.
